Thanks to my friend Anne. I found out about the bARTer Party at Etsy Labs. I had been wanting to check out Etsy ever since my other friend Alice mention them to me. But that was during thesis…and that is another story.
The bARTer is basically based on my favorite way of acquiring goods bartering. In this case it is all ART based. Of course, what qualifies as art is an age old question and a floating answer for this shindig.

It was a fun night. Once the wine, social lubricate, did its thing the fun began. Games ranged from inventive ones of building structures with uncooked pasta to a wii tennis tournament.
At the end of the night: I got the monkey I wanted! The nice part was people would track down the artist of the prize they decided on. Everyone was interested in the story. One of the interesting pieces was replicas of the dharma beer six pack from the TV Show Lost. There even was the cease and desist letter to go with it.
I can’t wait for the next one.

Update: Amit the founder of bARTer has head West. as all young men must. So hopefully bARTer won’t disappear with him or otherwise we will have to make a trip.
